“Dr. McDowell was not the first Doctor I saw at your office. The first was Dr. Schamberg. He saved my right foot from a nasty infection. Dr. Smith gave me back movement in both my. Hands with carpal tunnel surgery. I could hardly move them before now I have no problems. Dr. Holt put my right foot back together when it fell apart. Dr. McDowell has done surgery on my right knee to repair it and has followed up with care to the knee. He has also helped me regain movement with my right shoulder. At almost 66 years old, your office has cared for me for the past nineteen years with five-star care. Also, Dr. Seaworth has cared for my right foot since she has come to this office and after Dr. Beaver left. Who I was sad to see leave I liked him but understood his need to be near family in Texas. He's missed. If I missed a doctor, I Am sorry, as a whole your office a wonderful and caring office. Thank you to everyone. “I tell practically everyone I meet about my excellent orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Philip McDowell. He always takes time to talk when I have an appointment with him, and he is so encouraging about my progress, too. He has now replaced my right shoulder and left knee. My hairstylist said her husband had "the best orthopedic surgeon, who completely repaired his hand after a motorcycle accident." It turned out, Dr. McDowell was her husband's surgeon, also!”

“Dr. McDowell is wonderful! On my first visit, he explained the options I had for treatment of my shoulder pain: Cortisone injection plus physical therapy or MRI and possible surgery. When I chose the less invasive alternative, Dr. McDowell thought that was a wise decision. It impressed me that he didn't immediately push for operation. Although the injection and PT initially relieved my discomfort, it only lasted for a few months. When I went back the second time, he again gave me options, another injection, or an MRI. Although I knew the dose would provide relief, I felt there was a more serious problem that needed to get diagnosed. Again, he confirmed that this was a wise course of action. An MRI showed a torn rotator cuff, a slightly torn bicep tendon, and significant osteoarthritis; he told me my best option was a total reverse shoulder replacement. It was the only solution for all presenting issues. He did not push for immediate surgery but told me he would make the same recommendation anytime in the future. I did choose to go ahead with the operation and am currently working on rehab with PT. The surgery went better than Dr. McDowell was expecting, and my therapist tells me I am making an excellent recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. McDowell and would trust his care and advice again.”

“I had a badly broken wrist that Dr. McDowell repaired for me. I was 59 at the time. I had a plate and seven screws put in my wrist and thumb area, and I have been pleased with my recovery, and approx 6-inch incision/scar has healed very well. Because of my satisfaction, I referred my husband to Dr. McDowell for his rotator cuff repair. Surgery went very well although we are still only five weeks post surgery and my husband has a long six-month physical therapy program to get him to full use again of his arm/shoulder. Would recommend Dr. McDowell not only for his surgery experience but his personality and bedside manner makes for an enjoyable experience.”

“I had problems with my left shoulder for months and went to my primary care doctor, and he had no idea what the problem was. So my brother suggested Dr. McDowell. I saw him, and he had me do simple movements and then asked me if I ever had of frozen shoulder? That's what I had. I suffered for months until I found Dr. McDowell. He suggested physical therapy, and it helped some. I did that for several months and had more movement, but it still wasn't 100 percent. So I would see Dr. McDowell, and he said I wouldn't get any better, so he suggested surgery. I had surgery, and I could tell the difference in a week. Now I can raise my shoulder and put my hand behind my back without any problems. I liked Dr. McDowell because he didn't rush into surgery it was the last option. I would highly recommend him to anyone with orthopedic issues. He was caring and had the best bedside manners!”
