Patient Reviews
The following are reviews from patients of Dr. Eilerman.
“Dr. Eilerman and his staff are the BEST. They listen to you and treat you like a person (not a number). I had my left hip replaced years ago, and then a few months ago, had my right hip replaced, both were great experiences — very little pain after with at-home therapy. Just get up and walk. They are AWESOME.”
– Alice U.

“Dr. Eilerman was great. He listened intently to my questions and concerns and answered all of my issues with compassion and respect. When I had a setback in my recovery, he checked my healing progress, made recommendations, and told me to follow up if the problem wasn’t resolved. I entirely recovered in the expected amount of time and so glad I had a hip replacement. I would highly recommend Dr. Eilerman to others.”

“After my problems with UT not giving me any insulin after surgery, this time I will have my Endocrinologist contact the doctor so he can write the orders for the insulins I take. This is per Dr. Page, my endocrinologist. Dr. Eilerman has been excellent, attentive, and never rushed me for my appointments or hospital visit. Was always willing to give me pain meds if I needed them.”
– Marianne H.

“My surgery completed on January 22nd. I left the hospital 27 hours after my arrival. Within three days I was no longer using a walker and in Eight days later I shed the cane. In two weeks I was driving. Hip replacement enabled me to lead a very healthy life. Dr. Eilermann told me he would try to fix the socket I had flattened and he succeeded. I can still recall my first step. The limp was gone. It’s been four years, and I’m always grateful for the surgery done well.”
– Judith S.
“Hip replacement my second one, and the experience was like night and day. After Dr. Eilerman performed his magic, I was walking the next day and now February 6th I'm almost all the way back to work. Last time it took nearly six months to get this far. Thank the doctor for me.”
– Alan F.
“On Feb 17th, Dr. Michael Eilerman performed my total hip replacement using the anterior approach. We were pleased going into the procedure, as Dr. Eilerman had done an excellent job explaining the surgery and what to expect before, and after the process. He patiently answered all of our questions along the way. As he predicted, I was able to walk a short distance several hours after the surgery using a walker. The next day I could walk around the entire loop of the hospital ward. Hospital discharge took place about 24 hours following the surgery. After release, Tylenol was sufficient to control my pain, and I did not need any opiate pain relievers. Two weeks following the surgery I was very steady walking with or without a cane on a level surface and could even walk up and down stairs using handrails for stability. Staples removed at that time, and I was cleared to drive with my new right hip. I am confident that Dr. Eilerman’s expertise using the anterior approach for hip replacement is responsible for my speedy recovery and has minimized muscle atrophy.”
– James H.
“Excellent! Dr. Eilerman explained my options clearly and patiently answered all my questions. My first knee replacement went smoothly and will be planning to have Dr. Eilerman replace my other knee in the coming year.”
– Rosemary W.

– Capitola J.

“My total hip replacement went as planned. 1 night in the hospital. My recovery was as expected and only lasted a few short weeks. I am almost two years post surgery and am doing great — no Pain, full range of motion, very few limitations. I walk, bike and hike for exercise. I work in the yard without pain or restriction. I can do what I use to before my hip started to deteriorate. My replaced hip feels exactly like my other hip.”
– Steven H.
“In the last three years, Dr. Eilerman has replaced both my right and left hips. I chose Dr. Eilerman thru research and asking others in the Knoxville Area. I never heard one bad review. I am so thankful that I ended up choosing he and the University Orthopedic Surgeons team. After having several medical procedures in my life, I can with no hesitation say that both Dr. Eilerman and the University Orthopedic Surgeons staff was the best experience and outcome I have ever encountered. I traveled 1 1/2 hours to Knoxville, instead of having procedures locally. We have great Ortho in my area, but in my opinion, they do not compare to University Orthopedic Surgeons. I have sent others needing a hip replacement to Dr. Eilerman. All have thanked me over an over again for doing so. My hip replacements have given me a new lease on my life — absolutely no complications. University Orthopedic Surgeons experience both times were great experiences. From the pre-surgery to surgery and then post surgery University Orthopedic Surgeons was the most efficiently run organization I have ever encountered. I had never met a medical organization like University Orthopedic Surgeons before. In the future, if I have to have to any need for anything ortho, I will once again travel the miles to see University Orthopedic Surgeons. Just my opinion but I think you guys are the best! And believe me when I say I have gotten the word out in our area for University Orthopedic Surgeons and Dr. Eilerman. Many many medical groups could learn about patient care from University Orthopedic Surgeons. Fantastic Dr. fantastic organization.”
– Sam C.
“Both knees replaced by Dr. Eilerman and have had a fantastic outcome with both knees.”
– Sarah T.
“It was great.”
– Janet S.
“This was the second time Dr. Eilerman and staff has helped me with hip replacement surgery and, from start to finish, I would not ask for any better service than I received. Everyone was helpful with information and actions needed before and after for my particular case. And I found in comparing the two surgeries; the second was much improved because my recovery period was much shorter. I would recommend Dr. Michael Eilerman and staff for hip replacement always. I was able to recover much faster than before and that means to me that people involved are staying up-to-date on procedures and treatment.”
– Freita L.
“Very professional staff and doctor.”
– Georgiana D.
“Dr. Eilerman saw me on February 1st (after the 1st doctor that I saw refused to do my hip because I needed to lose weight). I had a new right hip on February 28th. Dr. Eilerman was very informative and took me through the whole process step by step. I appreciate the kindness of all of the staff at University Orthopaedic Surgeons. Could not have asked for better service? I am doing great and credit it all to him.”
– Janine K.
“Always get great treatment here. Either follow-up or any other.”
– Michael T.
“Dr. Eilerman replaced my right hip August 17th. The procedure was very successful. I was playing golf six weeks after the surgery. I scheduled an office visit with him on October 1st to get his opinion of the state of my left hip. Dr. Eilerman told me he did not need a left hip replacement as I did not have pain - eventually yes, but not now.”
– Tillman K.
“I need a hip replacement but am not quite ready because there were some fall activities I wanted to participate in beforehand. Dr. Eilerman was very kind and asked if I wanted an injection in the hip to get me through. The infusion helped me so much I almost forgot that I needed the joint replaced. But, now it's starting to cause a lot of pain, so it's time to go ahead and schedule the surgery.”
– Troy N.
“Great experience before, after and continuing to today.”
