“He is very knowledgeable and the best surgeon around for anterior hip replacements. He was highly recommended to me by many people. I had both my hips replaced by Dr. Hernandez, so these comments are based on two entirely separate surgeries including an initial consultation, plus pre-op and post-op visits. He has been very friendly, kind, and even humorous some surgeons can be pretty intimidating, but he seemed pretty down-to-earth. He explained everything I asked about, what my options were, showed me what he would do and how (even what specific part he would use), and took the time needed to go through my whole list of concerns, every time. He wants you up and moving as soon as possible after surgery, and the team he has in place to help with that was fantastic both times. He is very respected, so his patients are treated exceptionally well throughout the whole process. There were no issues with my surgeries - no complications, no delays, no dislocation risk, and he wants you to be able to recover well enough to get off medication as soon as possible.”

“More than two years ago, my back hurt me so badly that I could not maintain my normal routine — standing and walking were very challenging. I visited three neurosurgeons, had more than three MRI’s, and then one neurosurgeon finally recommended back surgery which I did early 2018. After the surgery, I began to get worse, so I returned to the surgeon to talk about my condition. He referred me to two orthopedic surgeons, and one was Dr. Hernandez. I went to the first referral, and my gut and my research told me to see Dr. Hernandez before making any decisions. I was given X-rays in Dr. Hernandez's office, and he read the results immediately while informing me I was bone on bone and I needed a new right hip. He explained how the procedure would be done and when and what I could expect after surgery. He said I would be without hip or back pain immediately, would be able to plan a vacation in two months, and would be 100% new again in one year. I am about nine weeks out and for the last month, have been 100%, and have planned three vacations. I could not walk for nearly two years, and my new hip, coupled with the extraordinary care I received from Dr. Hernandez and his team have changed my life. 61 is the late 21, and I never dreamed I would say that again. The professional and efficient staff under Dr. Hernandez are at the highest level of competency. From start to finish, you see about 12 people and not one of them was any less than highly capable, caring and efficient — it was so refreshing. Dr. Hernandez is honest and highly competent — he walked me through every step based on my unique situation. His procedure resolved an issue I worried about which is sizing as I have known some people are not sized right. He explained how his system was different and why it was easier to select my size to perfect the fit. I wake up every day cherishing that I can walk pain-free again and have a big bounce in my step. If you are considering Dr. Hernandez and hesitant for any reason, I welcome you to call me directly as I cannot say enough good things about the entire experience which was led by Dr. Hernandez!”

“So I needed a full knee replacement. How do you pick the surgeon for such a considerable and delicate operation? I read reviews and talked to patients. Not quite sure at first but now that I have had the surgery I know Dr. Hernandez was the best choice. It’s 30 days, and my knee feels great. From day one I had professional care from schedulers, nurses, doctors, and physical therapists. They all worked hard to make my healing process smooth. It was outpatient surgery- no hospital stay and a nurse visiting on the second day. Physical therapy was at home for three weeks starting on day two. I felt very special and well-taken care of. I will get the other done in a few months and know I have picked the correct surgeon. A great guy too! Can’t wait to live the rest of my life pain-free when I walk. The surgery wasn’t that bad! Dr. Grossman performed surgery on both my back and neck. Dr. Bahk performed surgery on my shoulder, and Dr. Dierckman performed surgery on my left hip. I could not ask for better doctors than these. I recommend all the above doctors.”

He was very personable, and knowledable, and I couldn't help but have confidence in his ability. After surgery he stopped by my recovery bed and reassured me that the procedure went well. He has a great bedside manner. During my follow up visits, he never made me feel rushed. He always listened to, and answered all my questions. My hip replacement recovery has been better than I expected. It has been about 5 weeks and I feel about 80 percent back to normal. Everything appears to be healing properly. I also appreciate how Dr. Hernandez made the effort to cut a straight incision, and then carefully stitch the under portion and glue the upper skin layer in order to minimize the scaring. I am extremely happy with all aspects of Dr. Hernandez' personality, demeanor, surgical expertise and aftercare.”

“Dr. Hernandez took time to explain the procedure, and he was clearly prepared to explain why I need it. The surgery went beautifully. I was home the same day. The next day, my home physical therapist had to double check what I had done: I was moving so well she didn't believe it was a total hip. I was back at work two weeks post-op. I am a physician assistant so I sit, stand and walk all day, about 5,000 steps. I used a cane the first day or 2 at work, but I kept leaving it behind, so I stopped. When my knees get bad enough to replace, I will be going back to Dr Hernandez. I cannot recommend him highly enough.”

I am an engineer and the sizing of the socket, extension into the femur and alignment just looked perfect. A subjective opinion but it just looked right sized from the mechanical perspective. If my left hip needs a replacement I would go back to Hernandez even if I was living out of state. All he does is hip replacements and he is good at it.”

“I had total left hip replacement in May performed by Dr. Hernandez at Northridge Hospital. I chose Dr. Hernandez because of his extensive experience with anterior hip replacement surgery and because of the extremely good reviews he had on line. I wanted anterior surgery because the recovery time is suppose to be faster and technique involves going between the muscles vs. cutting into them. The surgery was a complete success and I could not possibly be happier! Four years of hip pain is now gone and I can hike, golf and bike completely pain free. I was walking a 1/4 mile/day with crutches 2 days after the surgery, and was walking a mile per day without any assistance the week after the surgery. It's now been 7 weeks and I have absolutely no pain what-so-ever and am golfing regularly. Dr. Hernandez, his staff, and the staff at Northridge Hospital are excellent and were very attentive. They have the process down to a science, which really helps reduce the stress that comes with having major surgery. Thank you to Dr. Hernandez and his entire support staff, it has truly restored my life quality!”
