“I can not say enough about how competent, honest and knowledgeable Dr. Uhl is. In July I fractured my upper humerus in four places. Prior to consulting with Dr. Uhl I had been advised that I needed immediate surgery, that I would always have a deformity on my shoulder and upper arm, that there would be severe scarring, that all kinds of plates were needed, and that there was NO OTHER OPTION (to my question on other options). That same day I opted to get a second opinion with Dr. Uhl (one of the best decisions in my life). Dr. Uhl provided another option that did not rush my arm to surgery (a very honest opinion). An option that allowed the fractures to heal on their own (none were displaced), my muscle to pull up (no deformity) and only after my body and physical therapist had done all each could do did me discuss (now an elective) a procedure to give me more range of motion. Even during this period of uncertainty, Dr. Uhl provided no pressure or promises, noting that surgery can be risky and there is no guarantee as all our bodies react differently. He patiently provided consultation after consultation while I made a decision. I think it was his confidence, from knowing what he is doing and years of competent practice, that convinced me to have the surgery. As expected, a success.
I know this is lengthy, but I am so grateful for my decision to see Dr. Uhl and I hope that my writing this helps others avoid what almost happened to me had I not obtained that second opinion.”
